Marmot Basin/Hostelling International Jasper Athlete of the Week for February 20 - 26, 2017

Regan Fathers was outstanding all weekend long at the ACAC Men's Volleyball Conference Championship. Fathers received the player-of-the-game honours in all 3 of RDC's matches and was named tournament MVP. The Kinesiology and Sport Studies student had 17 kills, 4 aces and 7 digs in the quarter-final match against NAIT. He followed that up with 16 kills, 4 aces and 2 blocks in the semi-finals against the top seeded Keyano College Huskies from the North Division. However, he may have saved his best for last and took over in the 5th set of the gold medal match to lead his team to a 15-9 victory over the Medicine Hat College Rattlers (top seed in the South Division). He finished the final match with 26 kills, 3 aces and a block.

Over the weekend, Fathers picked up a total 59 kills, 11 aces, 3 blocks and 16 digs. With combined kills, aces and blocks he averaged a very impressive 6.1 points per set on the weekend. Fathers was a huge reason why the Kings were able to win their 2nd consecutive ACAC title and 4th in the last 5 years.

Regan is a 3rd year Kinesiology and Sport Studies student from East Fremantle, Western Australia.
