SAIT Trojans men’s basketball player John Smith Jr. put together a very impressive weekend, as he helped lead his team to their first ACAC title in 16 years. The second-year guard started the weekend by being named to the ACAC South Division All-Conference First Team. On the court, Smith averaged 32.3 points per game over the course of the three-day ACAC Men’s Basketball Championship hosted by Medicine Hat College — scoring 27 points in their quarter-final 86-74 win over Lakeland College, 30 points in their 94-83 semifinal win over Red Deer College and an amazing 40 points in their 85-65 championship final win over Lethbridge College. Smith’s efforts resulted in him being named the Tournament MVP.
John Smith Jr. is from Lacey Washington and is a Business Administration student at SAIT.
Congratulations John on an outstanding performance and good luck at CCAA Basketball Nationals in Prince Edward Island.
