SAIT Trojans men’s indoor track runner Matthew Travaglini finished up his Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) career on top, helping his men’s team earn their third-straight title at the Indoor Track Championships this past weekend in Calgary. The fourth-year runner from London. Ont., started his weekend by setting a new ACAC Championships record in the 3,000-metre race, finishing in a time of 8:33.70. Later that night, he took silver in the 1,000m in what was the first cross-country/indoor track race he did not win in two years. He made amends the next day by setting another ACAC Championships record in the 1,500m event in a time of 3:57.91. In the men’s 4x400m relay held later, Travaglini ran the third leg for his team, who finished in second place. Following the two-day event, Travaglini was named the ACAC’s Male Runner of the Year for the second consecutive season. Matthew Travaglini is a Geomatics Engineering Technology student at SAIT.
