Friday night natchup between Lethbridge College and St. Mary's University on paper looked like slam dunk for the Kodiaks. The 1st quarter was a 5 point differential in favor of the Kodiaks (17-12). Kodiaks had 6 players scoring 15 points. Conversely St. Mary's had scoring from a usual suspect Cordell Minnifee with 5 points.
2nd quarter saw the Kodiaks pull away with 24 more points with Lightning scoring only 12. This resulted in a 17 point deficit going into the 2nd half. The 24 point barrage was mainly done by eventual Player of Game Lincoln Anderson with 10 points. Jordan Britton had 8 points in that quarter. Half time score 41-24.
3rd quarter was won by St. Mary's with 23 points which cut the deficit by 10. Lightning had responded with 2 - 3pt shots and was successful on 6 - 2pointers . Majority of scoring by Issac Amsing (8 points), Alex Cliche (4 points), Minnifee, Jordan Britton and Coal Clark contributed to the 3rd quarter. 5 Kodiaks players had scored 16 points
4th quarter is where the Lightning made their move by playing tough defensive, timely turnovers and the continuous scoring from 5th year Guard Minnifee (5 points). The 19 point quarter overcame the deficit and held the Kodiaks to 6 points.
Final Score St. Mary's University(3-8) 66 Lethbridge Kodiaks (7-4) 63. Both teams return to action in Lethbridge on Saturday January 12th. Game time 8pm. Streaming available on ACACTV www.acactv.ca
