Reagan Wood Named ACAC 2018-19 Men’s North Basketball Coach of the Year

EDMONTON, AB (February 28, 2019) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce Reagan Wood of the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder has been named the ACAC Men's North Coach of the Year.

Coach Wood is in his 7th season as head coach for the Thunder and managed to once again produce an ACAC North conference powerhouse finishing the regular season in first place with a 20-4 record. The Thunder were ranked in the top ten nationally for most of the season and reach as high as 7th.

After falling short in the 2017-18 ACAC Provincial Championships earning a bronze medal, coach Wood had to fill in some key pieces to his roster this season and managed to once again prove to be a contender in the ACAC. This will be the third year in a row and the fourth time in his career receiving the ACAC coach of the year award.

Director of Athletics, Joel Mrak, appreciates the work ethic of Coach Wood for the excellent basketball program that he has assembled at Concordia, "Reagan has built a first class program here at Concordia that is continually in the championship contender conversation. Coach Wood has put in countless hours to ensure that his athletes are as dedicated to their studies as they are to basketball, and his effort is definitely being recognized across our conference and the country. Reagan is a worthy recipient of this award and it is a pleasure to have him at the helm of our men's basketball program."

Reagan received the award on February 27th, 2019 at the ACAC Men's Conference Championship Banquet held in Llyodminister, AB.
