Lloydminster, AB (February 28, 2019) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Arthur Rosa of the Medicine Hat College Rattlers, has been selected as the 2018-19 ACAC Men's Basketball South Rookie of the Year.
In his first year of ACAC competition, Arthur helped the Rattlers to a record of 13 wins and 8 losses in the ACAC South division. Arthur averaged 9.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 20 games while only playing 18.6 minutes per game. Arthur had a career high 26 points on January 26th in a win over the Ambrose Lions and he finished in double digit scoring in 4 of his last 6 games.
"Arthur is an emotional competitor who has seen his game grow in leaps and bounds as the season has progressed", said Head Coach Rich Humphrey. "Arthur has taken on more responsibility as the season has gone on and is now our primary ball handler in most situations. Being honoured as the ACAC South Rookie of the year is well deserved award for this young man and we couldn't be happier for him", said Humphrey.
Arthur is a 19 year-old EAPI, (English for Academic Purpose International) student from Rio De Janiero, Brazil.
This prestigious award was presented to Arthur at the 2019 ACAC Men's Basketball Championship Ceremony held on February 27, 2019 at Lakeland College.
