GPRC Host Double Header Against LAKELAND Rustlers

The Wolves welcomed the LAKELAND Rustlers to their gym for a pair of weekend games.

Wolves take an early lead half way through the 1st quarter. Liam O'Hallahan leading the way with 6 points and the Wolves are up 7. Rustlers come within 1 point with 2 minutes left and Evan Lloyd calls a time out. #7 Rashon Russell hits a bucket out of the timeout and they are up 19-18. At the buzzer #10 Noe Tchomo attempts a last minute shot, however a travel is called.

2nd quarter opened with Ricardo Joseph sinking the lay up and the Rustler go ahead by 1. Wolves couldn't respond and suddenly they find themselves down by 6. Manny IIoka goes down with authority, first dunk of the game. Back to back slams for #20 Manny IIoka and the game is tied at 28. A steal from Wolves #8 converts into a 2 point mid range make. Another steal for the Wolves and Jermey Pynn sinks one from deep downtown and they find themselves up 5. Lakeland calls a timeout. The Wolves score a couple more and the quarter ends 42-28 Wolves.

The crowd was entertained by the Gymniks Cheer Team at half time. Athletes ages 5-14 showed off their athleticism, wowing the crowd with their abilities.

Lakeland was hungry in the 3rd, came out and scored 14 before the half way mark to the Wolves 8. Both teams battled hard with lots of pushing and shoving. Liam comes up with a big block and the fast break transition is successful by #5 Duressa Essa. Lakeland shows up with some great offense and they close the gap to 3. Late in the 3rd Lakeland scores a big 3 pointer to come within 1 of the Wolves. After 30 minutes of play 60-59 Wolves.

4th quarter is all Lakeland. They outscore the Wolves in the quarter and win the game 77:69.

Player of the Game for the LAKELAND Eagles was #7 Rashon Russell with 16 points and for the GPRC Wolves #13 Daria Goertzen with 12 points.

Both teams are back in action tomorrow at 3pm in the GPRC gym.
