Rattlers Fall to Broncos at home

Hoping for their second win in as many nights, the Medicine Hat College Rattlers Played host to the Olds Broncos. With both teams lower in the standings the Rattlers looked to capitalize and start a streak going into the break, while the Broncos looked to play spoiler in the final Home game of 2019. The Rattlers scored the first 2 baskets of the game both coming off a fast break before the Broncos responded with a 3. The Broncos scored again taking the lead as both teams started taking fouls and the broncos padded their lead. the game however remained close with chances coming on both ends of the court. Defense started to take over the game as scoring slowed as the play moved through the middle of the quarter. With 2 minutes left the Rattlers re-took the lead 13-12. They followed it up  with another basket shortly after to increase the lead to 3. The Broncos woke up again and re took the lead back on 2 baskets back to back. After entering bonus the Broncos got to the line late in the quarter hitting one and increasing the lead to 3. The Rattlers answered but still remained down one, 17-18 at the end of the first.

The second quarter started with the Rattlers missing 2 second chance opportunities and the Broncos hitting a 3 early. There was no panic from the Rattlers as they continued to play their style knowing the Broncos couldn't continue to hit from outside with this much efficiency all game. The Broncos went on a run however and were up 28-17 early in the second. The Rattlers turned it on hitting a jumper and a 3 to quickly close the gap again. Another turnover forced and another quick 4 points from the Rattlers and they found themselves only down 2. Olds took a timeout and were able to get the lead back to 4 before the Rattlers responded again. After another defensive stop the Rattlers tied it at 30.  The Broncos again took a lead on a 7-0 run before the Rattlers could again respond. The Broncos again hit from beyond the arc and were able to again extend the lead going into the half. Up 7 at the break, the Broncos lead 42-35 in a tight contest.

The Third started with an unforced turnover from Olds and a quick bucket from the Rattlers. The Rattlers did not let the lead become unmanageable as they were able to stay within striking distance. Medicine Hat was down by as many as 14 but came back to only 4 down with 2 minutes on the clock. the Broncos again extended the lead with time winding down in the half. The Rattlers trailed by 6 down 59-65 at the end of the quarter.

In the fourth quarter the Broncos were able to hold on to their lead with the Rattlers Kieron Burgess forced to the bench with 4 fouls. He re-entered the game with 7 minutes and looked to make an immediate impact, hitting on his first shot back. The Broncos had their own ideas and were able to take a double digits lead. With only 5 minutes left the Rattlers needed to turn something around to get back into the game. The Broncos continued to answer every rattler point with their own. The Rattlers as well were missing too many first chance points and failing to get control of the offensive glass. With just over two minutes left the Rattlers took a timeout down 79-63 after seeing their offence break down. The Broncos were too much on this day as they took the game 82-67 over the Rattlers.
