Tonight's game had a little bit of everything, missed dunks, 4th quarter drama, clutch 3's, a half-court buzzer beater, and 2 passionate teams who gave it all they had on the court.
In the end, the #1 ranked team in the CCAA, the Lethbridge Kodiaks, held on to win a nail bitter.
Orin Porter Jr. and Chase Bohne, led the Kodiaks offensively with 20 & 26 points respectfully, while, Isaac Gray led the Lions with a double-double, picking up 10 rebounds and 26 points.
While the Lions shot a higher percentage from the field and from 3, they were out rebounded 38-43 which contributed greatly to their 21, 2nd chance points. In comparison the Lions only had 5 points off of 2nd chance opportunities.
Tonight's game came down to the 4th quarter after exchanging leads throughout the game. Down by 1 with 9 minutes left, team would exchange baskets almost the entire quarter. With a minute to go, an Isaac Gray jump shot again brought the Lethbridge's lead to 2. Orin Porter Jr. would help seal the game for the Kodiaks as in the last 120 seconds he scored 7 of the Kodiaks 9 final points.
The Lions came scared the Kodiaks in the final 20 seconds as an unsportsmanlike foul by Chase Bohne gave the Lions 2 free throws and the ball. Matt Francisco hit 1 of the 2 and Gray missed a 3, that could have gotten the game back to a one possession game again, however it wasn't meant to be for Ambrose tonight.
These two teams will go at it again tomorrow night, as they will rematch in Lethbridge at 8:00pm. You can catch the game live or on ACACTV.ca.
