Augustana Vikings face off against the Concordia Thunder for tonight's ACAC game. Both teams are fired up and ready from the women's game before.
Thunder #15 Ronald Bacon Jr. started the game off strong with a lot of blocks. Vikings worked to move the ball and create an offence allowing them to score. Due to impeccable defence the Vikings were able to lead the first quarter. With less than 3 minutes left in the first quarter, Vikings #9 Michael Stasuik made a block that had the crowd up on their feet. The first quarter ended with a score of 26-17 for Vikings. During the second quarter, Thunder kept Vikings lead to a minimum while still scoring baskets of their own. Both teams worked hard, but Vikings brought their A game helping them to maintain their lead of a half time score of 48-45. Thunder's Head Coach Reagan Wood, called words of encouragement on the sideline to his team. The fans excitement grew as the game went on. The third quarter ended with a score of 73-57 for Vikings. Thunder was unable to close the gap and Vikings continued to pull ahead. Vikings #5 Dane Philipenko stole the ball and made a layup. Thunder #15 Ronald Bacon Jr. made a 3 point shot giving the Thunder a last push of energy to finish the game. With 3 minutes left and the score 87-78 for Vikings, the fans could not look away from the game as they waited to see who would win. Thunder had great defence, but was unable to capitalize on the baskets when they needed to, and the gap got to far away. Despite Thunders attempt, Vikings came out with the win with a final score of 102 - 86.
Player of the Game was awarded to Thunders #6 Luka Korosec, and Vikings #13 Elijah Schmuland.
