Penalty minutes soared and Vikings led the charge

Camrose, AB - A snowstorm seemed like a fitting launch into the good ol' hockey game between the visiting Portage Voyageurs and the Augustana Vikings. Despite poor road conditions, the fans were out and the game began as scheduled. The Vikings maintained their early lead until the very end of the game, finishing with a 6-1 victory over the Voyageurs.

With the first period being rather uneventful for the Voyageurs, the Vikings managed to score 3 goals before the intermission, two by captain Evan Warmington and the other by Travis Mayan. It wasn't until the second period that the Voyageurs' Brayden Dale, got a shot on DeGraves that slipped past his glove, giving them their first and only goal of the game. As penalty minutes increased for both teams in the second and third period, Voyageurs goalie, Taryn Kotchorek, faced another 39 shots and managed to keep all but 3 out. The fourth point for Augustana was added by Adam Osczevski and the fifth by Carter Danczak. The final goal for the Vikings came from Owen Sobchak, with less than 1 second left in the game.

Voyageurs success can be attributed to first year forward, Brayden Dale, who stood out as Player of the Game scoring the team's only goal. Owen Sobchak, veteran forward, was named Player of the Game for the Vikings with 1 goal and 3 assists.
