In what was their final game of their first ever season competing in the ACAC Outdoor Soccer League, the Ambrose Lions men's soccer team played their last home game against the Olds College Broncos.
For Everett Sylvester, Lucas Reimer, Jared Zimmer, Adam Keizer, Reagan McCaffry, Matthew Wideman, Alejandro Beckdorf and Caden DenOusten, it was their last chance to play in front of the home crowd as either with graduation, running out of years of eligibility or other circumstances, their time as a Lion may very well come to an end.
In the 34th minute, #17 from Olds College, Abu Bangura, had a great opportunity to score but it was denied by Ambrose Lions goalie, Jared Zimmer. The game would remain scoreless until the 38th minute as Jacob McLarney would open the scoring. Both Lions goalkeepers got to see some action and played very well! At half the Lions would make a substitution in net, allowing Matthew Stacey an opportunity. While Stacey played extremely well, making a full out diving save shortly after coming in, he too would surrender 1 goal to the Broncos. This time, #13 Ryan Wolff would score the goal, putting the Broncos up 2-0. In the 75th minute, Kru Huska would get 1 back for the Lions, but this is a close as they would come to victory.
A strong last 15min by the Lions would see them unable to score a 2nd past keeper David Rodriguez. It did get intense in the final moments as Ambrose pushed extremely hard in the last few minutes, leading to a yellow cards being handed out to each team, however despite the great support from the Lions fans, the Men were unable to equal the score. Players of the games were Kru Huska and Ryan Wolff for the Lions and Broncos respectively.
