LAC LA BICHE, Alta. - The second ever Portage College Voyageurs Men's Soccer game ended with a 5-0 defeat at the hands of the Keyano Huskies of Fort McMurray.  The northern rivals played a spirited affair in Lac La Biche that was kept in check with some savvy refereeing.  The third goal of Keyano's Ayman Hassen's hatrick in the 43rd minute would make it quite an uphill battle for the VOYAGEURS in the second half.

There were some glimpses of the talent that is brewing in the Voyageurs fledgling program that kicked off its innaugural ACAC campaign this year.  Despite the scoreline, first year players Steele Nichols, Ebuka Nwosu, and stalwarth David Schultz show the type of competitive edge that can push the entire team for a full 90 minutes.  Voyageurs Head Coach, Claude Bolton, took some "...pride in the discipline our young charges are starting exhibit.  They never quit."  Fan favourite David Rodriguez, the always acrobatic Voyageurs goalkeeper, did not disappoint in keeping supporters in awe of his custodian prowess.

Osman Abdi and Djokira Knonate tallied in the 65th and 90th minute respectively finish off the scoring for the visiting Huskies.

Players of the Game:

Portage Voyageurs - Sebastian Saviakjuk

Keyano Huskies - Ayman Hassen

Next Up for the VOYAGEURS:  Keyano Huskies rematch on September 15 @2:00 pm in Fort MacMurray.
