It was a very similar story compared to the rest of their season for the Lions tonight as they challenged the Kings on their home pitch. Right from the start, the Kings capitalized on multiple Lions miscues forcing goalkeeper Matt Stacey to keep them in the game. Unfortunately for the Lions, Stacey again was only able to do so much as the Kings attacked.
Tonight's game would see, Pedro Humberto, Dagan Slimmon, Gabriel Fonseca (x2) and Hayden Jacobs all score for the Kings, while Austin Langdon and Jacob Hamilton would team up for the clean sheet.
In the 20th minute, the Kings would take the lead off of a terrific cross from Hugo Janssen that was volleyed in by Pedro Humberto. In the 31st minute the Kings would add their second of the half off a hard shot just outside the box from Slimmon. The Kings would add 2 more early in the 2nd half for insurance and another in the 70th minute.
The win for Red Deer, solidifies their spot in a crowded South Division, with 10 points, good enough for 2nd in the standings, while the loss adds to the Lions winless record. Tomorrow afternoon, the Lions look to get their first points of their second ever ACAC Outdoor Season as they play for the first time ever, the Augustana Vikings, who moved into the South Division this year due to re-alignment.
