Wolves Split Weekend Series with Nait

Feb 09, 2019 — Ooks win in 5 sets

Coming off a fantastic win on Friday, the GPRC Wolves Men's Volleyball team narrowly missed sweeping the NAIT Ooks.

The Ooks came out hot, winning the first two sets 25-10 and 25-16. The Wolves showed some resilience, winning the 3rd set 25-18. A nerve-wracking 4th set went the Wolves way, winning 25-23. The 5th set did not disappoint. A back and forth battle ensued. The Wolves couldn't close it out with a 14-12 lead in the 5th and lost the set and match, 17-15.

GPRC moves to 4-18 on the year, while NAIT improves to 15-7. Tom Wheeler led GPRC with 3 kills, 9 blocks, and 6 digs.  Johnathan Shapka led NAIT with 16 kills and 17 digs.

Next week, GPRC travels to Edmonton to play the Kings University Eagles in the final weekend of the regular season. The Wolves are eliminated from playoff contention but can still play the spoiler role as the Eagles are fighting for the 4th and final spot in the ACAC North.
