Nov. 29, 2019- The Kodiaks men's team had an eight-game win streak snapped on last Saturday as the team lost in four sets to nationally 15th-ranked Red Deer College. They were looking to redeem themselves with a win from Friday nights game against the Ambrose Lions and came out successful.
The Kodiaks stated their dominance on the court as they decided to switch up their original starting line up with some fresh faces. They were a powerful force and held nothing back, hitting all the Lions weak spots. Nolan Moes of the Kodiaks was an offensive threat on the court as he attained five kills in just the first set. He was an essential part of winning the first set 25-13.
The Lions began to increase their intensity on the court as they kept up with the Kodiaks throughout the second set. Ambrose continued to pour on the pressure for Lethbridge's unusual lineup, where they eventually found themselves with a lead. However, their lead was short lived as the Kodiaks quickly reclaimed control. Quinn Buchanan from Lethbridge achieved three kills while Stephan Jones and Adrian Strandberg from Ambrose both attained three kills matching Quinn's score, as they attempted to wear down Lethbridge's defense. However, it was not enough as the Kodiaks took the second set with a close score of 25-23.
The Kodiaks maintained their momentum from the previous sets, aiming to take the game three sets to zero. Their confidence on the court was well known, executing skills correctly and efficiently. However, the Lions tested their every move, not letting the Kodiaks take the easy win. The Kodiaks were too powerful to be stopped as they won the last set needed to pull out the final win of the night with a score of 25-18.
