CALGARY, ALTA., (Nov. 30, 2019) - The SAIT Trojans men's volleyball team, once ranked No. 1 in Canada, has now lost three straight games.
The third came Saturday night, as they were beat 3-1 (25-21, 25-21, 20-25, 25-20) by the visiting Red Deer College Kings in their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) game played at SAIT's Campus Centre.
"They served more efficiently than us, and they passed better than us," said Trojans head coach Dallas Soonias. "There was a change in the third set where we were passing better, so we were able to run our middle attack. That changed things a lot. But, it seems when our reception goes away, our serving goes away, and that's the basis of this game."
SAIT falls to 9-4 on the season.
The Trojans were led by Tyler Latu'ila (5th year, Auckland, New Zealand, Bachelor of Business Administration), who had nine kills and two service aces.
Carter Hills paced the Kings with a game-high 11 kills.
The Trojans will look to grab a win before the holiday break when they host the Ambrose University Lions in a rare Wednesday night contest on Dec. 4.
"Between now and then, with this quick turnaround, my goal is to keep the guys healthy and not overwhelmed," Soonias stated.
