The Ambrose Lions took on the CCAA 2nd ranked Lethbridge College Kodiaks on Friday night and fell 3-0. While the two teams were close in number of kills as well as service aces, an over doubled number of missed serves for the Lions proved substantial as they lost the sets 23-25, 22-25 and 22-25. Tonight saw Morgan Hildebrandt get his first ever ACAC start and after the game his coach had nothing but good things to say of his performance. All three sets were similar in how they played out with the Lions keeping the game close. However, unfortunately for Ambrose, Lethbridge's experience and ability to close out each set was too much.
Player of the game was awarded to Kodiaks setter #10 Nash Shipton who ended the game with 22 assists. Player of the game for the Lions was awarded to #7 Nicholas Jabusch primarily for his offensive play as he ended the night hitting 53%. After the game Lion's coach Paul Armbruster said he was pleased with his team's ability to extend rallies and the performance of his first year athletes. "We were happy with quite a few things in the first half of the match. I really liked our defensive intensity and we dug really well on the weekend. It has been really encouraging to see Nick Jabusch make improvements… he is a very good attacker and he can be someone that scores with a high efficiency, he has a great game that way". The Lions have next weekend off before back to back games against Medicine Hat on February 14 and 15.
