Rattlers win over Lightning on Friday in Calgary

Medicine Hat College Women Rattlers came into Glenmore Christian Academy home of the St. Mary's University looking for the second win in this 3 game series. It seemed early on the game that it would be close afffair with MHC ahead by 2 after 1. However Coach Nielsen found the formula in the 2nd quarter with a 8-0 run with the offensive scoring of Kiana Mintz who took to the boards with 9 points to lead the way. This 2nd quarter let down by the Lightning would prove costly for the team. Sydney Deighton lead the team in scoring in the 1st half with 7 points.

At the end of the 1st half, it was 31-18 for the Rattlers.

2nd half had both teams battling to keep the deficit down. Medicine Hat had a 23 point lead midway through the 4th quarter. ACAC Player of the Week Hannah Helton was held into check by a vigorous half court press . Emily Wagner had to pick up the pieces by herself by producing 17 of her 19 points in the final half of play. Lightning needed additional scoring from the flor and bench, but there were few good opportunities to score.

Kiana Mintz was a thorn on the offensive side on the ball for the Rattlers. She had 16 points and she had help from 9 of her teammates in scoring their 66 total points.

Medicine Hat College runs their record to 8-1, while the Lightning to .500 with 4-4 record.
