The NAIT Ooks came into the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre tonight with a two-game losing streak in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference women's basketball regular season play.

The host Keyano Huskies were on a two-game win streak.

What team would break the jinx?

It took the host team three-and-a-half minutes to make their first outside shot, down 8-5.

Ooks shooting 8-for-12 with two minutes left in first period up 20-9 while Huskies are 2-of-11 from the field.

End of first period 21-15 Ooks.

Ooks shooting 57% from field with Huskies struggling at 23%.

With 6:53 in second period, Huskies star guard/forward Augusta Kievisaite scores on a layup having missed her previous six attempts.

Huskies find it difficult going inside against the Ooks tall timber.

Huskies pick up the tempo in third period.

This one looks like it may go down to the final shot.

Free throws at both ends in the last minute with Leah Vandenboogaard left open underneath for an easy hoop to tie the game 63-63 with 2.3 second remaining in regulation.


Not much scoring in the five-minute overtime

Huskies leading 67-66, Ooks Sydney Hurlburt is fouled with 44 seconds on clock. Making both free throws, the visitors lead 68-67.

A steal by Vandenboogaard on Huskies' Tyshaine Page with 21 seconds left secures the W.

Huskies Home Hardware Player of the Game Kievisaite with 19 points, 4 steals, 5 assists and 6 rebounds. Moiyan Toure added 17 points and 13 rebounds.
