The Wolves welcomed the LAKELAND Rustlers to their gym for game 2 on the weekend. Wolves are coming off a loss in their gym Friday night so they are eager to get the W.
Rustlers open the game with a 3 point make followed by a left handed layup to go up 5-0 early. Jeannie Borger puts up a rebound and scores to get the Wolves on the board. Late in the half Sophie Leslie hits a 3 for the Wolves and they come within 3 of the Rustlers. Jayden Demchuk draws a couple fouls on the tough Rustler defense but is unable to capitalize. Sophie Leslie goes 2 for 2 in the last minute to bring the Wolves within 2 and the Rustlers respond with 2 more. After an offensive Wolves foul the Rustler respond with 2 more and go up 20-14. The quarter ends 21-14 for the Rustlers.
2nd quarter the Wolves find themselves down 10 early. Lane Challis comes up with some pick defensive boards which transitions into a 3 point make from Sophie Leslie. The Rustlers show off their impressive 3 point shooting and find themselves up 38-22 half way through the quarter. Jaden Cook hits a couple 3's late in the quarter to put the Rustlers up 46-31 and they go into half time with a 15 point lead. #9 Sophie Leslie is the top scorer with 11 points and for the Rustlers #4 Ally Pilgrim with 10 points after 20 minutes of play.
Lakeland was all over the Wolves in the 3rd quarter. They ended the 3rd up by 19 points.
Both teams exchange hoops in the 4th quarter. The Lakeland offense was too much for the Wolves and the game ends 81:54.
Player of the Game for the LAKELAND Eagles was #5 Tori Dugan with 14 points and for the GPRC Wolves #14 Caitlin Paul with 11 points.
GPRC will host NAIT next weekend.
