The Olds College Broncos women's hockey team lost against the SAIT Trojans at the "Olds College Student Appreciation" game on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at the Olds Sportsplex.
The first goal of the night was scored by Broncos Bree Edwards at 4:31, assisted by Brianna Marsh and Abby Webster. Broncos second goal in the first period was scored by number 7, Karli Fredrick at 10:34 assisted by Maddy Black and Brynne Doerksen. SAIT's first penalty of the night went to number 26, Karys Woodward for kneeing at 16:25 which sent the Broncos into a power play late in the first. Coming up empty on this power play the Broncos ended the period leading SAIT 2-0.

SAIT started the second period strong, scoring their first goal of the night early in the second, Kelsey Patterson put it in the net with assists by 16, Brittany MacDonald and Karys Woodward at 1:52. SAIT's second goal was an unassisted goal scored by Brynn Ferguson at 4:32. SAIT's third goal scored by number 10, Kelsey Patterson and was unassisted at 7:21. Broncos number 16, Keera Tiringer headed to the penalty box for body contact at 9:14, putting SAIT on the power play. SAIT's fourth goal scored on the power play by 25, Karmen Mooney at 10:39 with assists by MacDonald and Patterson. Broncos penalty at 13:15 for slashing was awarded to newcomer Danica Dahlin, only to see Dahlin return to box at 17:15 for boarding.A double minor was called for Broncos number 4, Kassy Gaudette for head contact. SAIT penalty for too many on the ice was called at 19:07 and was served by Woodward.
Shots at the end of the second period was 21-10 for SAIT and a 4-2 lead for the SAIT Trojans.
The third period started with a SAIT penalty for number 11, Emma Wheeldon on a tripping call at 4:55. At 8:02 double minor penalty for head contact was given to Karmen Mooney of SAIT. Broncos third goal of the night was scored by number 22, Brekell Otto assisted from Karli Fredrick at 8:58. Broncos penalty for holding sent Shaunda Johnson to the penalty box at 9:30. Penalty for SAIT's number 10, Patterson for roughing at 11:17. Last penalty of the night for Mooney of SAIT's for slashing at 17:50.
Final shots for the night was 24 for SAIT and 14 for Broncos
Player of the Game for the SAIT Trojans was number 5, Misty Seastorm and the Pit Barbecue Player of the Game for the Olds College Broncos was number 11 Maddy Black.
The first period was very strong for the Broncos, scoring two goals quickly with very little time in the penalty box. Broncos goalie, Lexi Bruce had multiple big saves in the first twenty minutes. SAIT came back with a vengeance in the second period scoring all of their four goals of the night, two of which were unassisted and one on the powerplay. Broncos battled hard in the second and in the third to finish the game with a 4-3 loss.
