SAIT Trojans move on, NAIT Ooks go home

 The SAIT Trojans women's volleyball team rallied to win three-straight sets in a four-set victory, 22-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-20 over the NAIT Ooks in the consolation round at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Championship at Lakeland College on Friday afternoon.
 

With the win the Trojans (1-1) move on to compete another day while the Ooks (0-2) are eliminated from further play.

 

The Trojans will play The King's University Eagles in the fourth-place game. Game time is set for 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at the Lakeland College gym.

 

The last time NAIT lost both games in the ACAC championship was during the 2014-15 season.

 

They lost 3-0 to the Red Deer College Queens to open the tournament and followed that up with a 3-0 loss to the Lakeland College Rustlers, eliminating them from further participation.

 

The Trojans followed a similar path that year, dropping their opening game 3-1 to the Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves. From there, they defeated the Eagles 3-0 and grabbed fourth place with a 3-1 win over the Rustlers.

 

Karly Kupka had 12 kills for the Ooks while Nalani Stang added 11 kills. Megan Brennan earned 14 kills for the victorious Trojans while teammate Hanli Hinchey had eight.

 

The player of the game for the Ooks was Stang and the player of the game for the Trojans was Brennan.
