The SAIT Trojans headed south east down the number One highway to face off against the Medicine Hat College Rattlers. Both teams were struggling on the season and it looked to be an even match. The Rattlers however had other ideas. After trading the opening few points the Rattlers started to control and dictate the play. Some of this came off unforced errors from the visitors, but the Rattlers were able to finish more points. Jumping out to a 10-6 lead, the Rattlers held an early advantage. They continued with their lead up 20-12 until SAIT came screaming back into the first set. They came all the way back to trail by one 22-21, but the Rattlers scored the next two to retain their lead. The Trojans not to be put away battled back again and took a 24-23 lead and was serving for the game. The Rattlers scored to even it at 24. The Trojans were able to finish the comeback and take the first set 26-24.
The Trojans opened the second set with a quick point only to be answered right away from the Rattlers who scored back to back. After reeling off another 3 straight, the Rattlers gave the Trojans 2 before gaining control again. The Home side again jumped out to a lead up 11-6 early in the set. Up 15-10 the Rattlers only needed to control their errors to tie the match. They maintained a lead up 20-16 entering the late stages of the set. The Rattlers continued their control of the set and were up 24-17 with a chance to serve for the set. The Trojans fought it off for 3 points coming back to 20-24. The Rattlers scored right away and took the second set 25-20.
The third set started looking much like the first two, with the home side jumping out to a lead early. Up 10-5. The Rattlers again only needed to avoid unforced errors and continue to put away their attacks. Continuing to score at will the Rattlers took a 15-6 lead forcing SAIT to take a timeout. Out of the break it wasn't much better for the visitors as the Rattlers continued to pull away. Down by 9, the Trojans needed a comeback like the first. The Trojans started to chip away but not fast enough as the Rattlers led 20-13. The Trojans continued to score and reduced the lead to 21-16. The Rattlers continued to score when they needed and took the third set 25-18 taking a 2 sets to one lead.
The Rattlers opened up the third set with a quick point before the Trojans quickly tied it. The Rattlers were able to score 2 more before SAIT won back the serve. After another serving error from SAIT the score read 4-2 rattlers. Off a huge block from Brooke Christie and an Ace from Janessa Oelke the Rattlers found themselves with a lead yet again. Now 8-2 the home side hoped to continue the momentum and finish the match in 4. Now up 10-2 the Rattlers had a firm handle on the set in the early stages. From here the teams started to trade serves and points as the Rattlers lead 14-8. The Trojans had started to chip away but continued to be in an early hole. With a few big points the Rattlers regained their momentum and were able to increase the lead to 7. Up 18-11 the Rattlers only needed to avoid a collapse and they would take the match. The Rattlers cruised to a 3-1 set victory winning the last set 25-17
