WVB | Kodiaks Host Broncos in First Home Game of 2020

Jan. 17, 2020 - The Lethbridge Kodiaks hosted the Olds Broncos Friday evening in anticipation of a pair of home matches. The first matches in the Val Matteotti gym of 2020. 

The Kodiaks started the first set off strong, instantly gaining a 6 point lead, they were not backing down easily. However, the Broncos had a little something up their sleeve, quickly closing the gap and matching the score with the Kodiaks. Lethbridge regained momentum with just a few points left in the set, managing to sneak in a small lead as they took the first set of the night with a score of 25-19.

The Kodiaks quickly regained control of the game, leaving the Broncos to fall far behind once again. Jamie Brown of Lethbridge managed to make four strong kills in the second set, leading her team to another victorious set. Brown has been a very consistent piece in the Kodiaks squad this year, demonstrating great leadership and discipline. Olds fell short in this set 14-25.

The Kodiaks sat comfortably as they headed into the third set with two wins under their belt. The Broncos gave all they had, however their skills fell short compared to that of the Kodiaks. Mack Lewicki of Lethbridge was an absolute offensive threat in the third set as she made five powerful kills giving the Broncos no chance. Lethbridge swept this home match with a final set score of 25-20.

Avery Gammel of Olds found herself with five aces throughout the entire match while Jamie Brown of Lethbridge managed to earn six.

Lethbridge will host Olds again tomorrow where they will look to secure a second win.
