Calgary, AB (Oct. 26, 2019) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce Simon Schaerz of the Lethbridge College Kodiaks has been named the ACAC Cross Country Coach of the Year.
First-year Head coach, Simon Schaerz, has taken over a Kodiaks program that is rich in history and a perennial contender. In his first full year, Simon leads the way for the women's team to repeat as ACAC Gold medalists and also the Individual gold medalist as well. In what should have been a rebuilding year, Coach Schaerz has recruited teams that look to only get stronger in years to come.
"In his first full season as head coach of the Kodiaks historic cross country teams, Simon hasn't let the program miss a beat," says Todd Caughlin, Manager of Athletics & Recreation Services. "The culture, competitiveness and depth that Simon in installing in all the student-athletes in the programs has been fun to watch. Both teams have a new vision of the future and it's going to be great seeing it play out!"
Simon received the award on Saturday, Oct. 26th, 2019 at the ACAC Cross Country Conference Championship Banquet held at SAIT.
