Calgary, AB, October 28, 2019 – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Will Cebuliak of the Red Deer College Kings has been selected as the 2019-20 ACAC Men's Cross Country Running Rookie of the Year.
Cebuliak (28:51) had a strong race at the ACAC Cross Country Running Championships on October 26. The former running star at Red Deer's Hunting Hills High School helped the Kings earn gold in Calgary. He finished eighth individually and narrowly missed a spot on the ACAC Men's Cross Country All-Conference team.
Cebuliak has performed extremely well throughout the season. He had an excellent outing at Running Room Grand Prix #2 on his home course, finishing fourth among ACAC male runners with a time of 28:45 over 8 km. The first-year Bachelor of Arts student (29:23) also placed eighth at Running Room Grand Prix #4 in Calgary.
Cebuliak, along with the Kings and Queens, will participate at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Cross Country Running National Championships on November 9 in Grande Prairie.
The award was announced Saturday, October 26 at the ACAC Cross Country Running Banquet & Awards Presentation in Calgary.
