Mark DeWit had a strong weekend on the court for the Red Deer College Kings, helping them win silver at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Volleyball National Championship. He was also named a CCAA Tournament First Team All-star at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre. 

In Friday’s three set sweep over the defending CCAA Champion Limoilou Titans (25-11, 25-21 and 25-22), the Bachelor of Commerce student had three kills and one stuff block. Then in the semi-final against the Vancouver Island University (VIU) Mariners, the second-year middle elevated his play, totaling 11 kills, three stuffs, two digs and one assist, energizing the Kings over the Mariners in three sets (25-23, 25-20 and 26-24). Mark was also named the Kings Player-of-the-Game for his tremendous performance. In Saturday’s national final, the Fanshawe Falcons downed the RDC Kings in four sets (25-12, 25-13, 22-25 and 25-23). The student-athlete from Lacombe played a key role again for the Kings, totaling six kills, four stuffs, one dig, one assist and one service ace.
