Nico Gonzalez continued to prove that age is just a number.

After watching his team go down 1-0 just nine minutes into the ACAC Gold Medal game, the 36-year-old scored the equalizer in the second half and then the game-winner 10 minutes into extra time to help his Trojans capture their second consecutive title with a 3-1 victory over the NAIT Ooks.

Gonzalez's equalizing goal was a rocket from 25 yards out that went directly into the top left corner, giving the Ooks tender no chance. The play that led up to Nico's goal was phenomenal. The team was patient around the 18 yard box as they waited for the right opportunity to knock one in.

Nico brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team. He knows what it takes to win a conference championship because he helped lead his team to capturing the banner last year. The Trojans look to make some more noise at nationals this year at Langara College in British Columbia.

Gonzalez's heroics helped him earn the tournament's Most Outstanding Player award.

Nico Gonzalez is a Geomatics Engineering Technology student at SAIT.
