Summer Long, Lethbridge Kodiaks, Women's Basketball
ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Summer Long (first year, General Arts and Science, Raymond) of the women’s basketball team delivered a breakout weekend, helping lead the Kodiaks to a pair of upset wins over the Ambrose University Lions while setting the tone with her consistency and competitiveness.
Long led Lethbridge in minutes played, points, and rebounds in both games, providing a steady presence as the Kodiaks opened the second half of the season with momentum. In Friday’s 78–67 upset victory, Long logged 36 minutes and finished with a team-high 22 points and nine rebounds, while adding four assists, seven steals, and two blocks to anchor the Kodiaks’ defensive effort. She followed that performance with a dominant showing in Saturday’s 67–51 win, playing 33 minutes and scoring 34 points to go along with 10 rebounds and three assists.
Long’s two-way impact, poise, and leadership were instrumental in the Kodiaks securing back-to-back upset wins and underscored her growing role within the lineup.
