ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Paul Ouano delivered an inspiring performance, showcasing resilience and determination at the ACAC individual competition and earning recognition for his competitive spirit.

Despite facing challenges in his preferred events, Paul competed in both Mixed Doubles and Men’s Doubles, battling through tough matches even when results didn’t go as planned. Rather than letting setbacks define his tournament, he embraced a new challenge by stepping into Men’s Singles—an event outside his usual comfort zone.

Paul rose to the occasion in remarkable fashion, defeating every opponent on his path to the final of the ACAC Men’s Singles championship. His run was highlighted by grit, adaptability, and mental toughness, ultimately finishing second after a hard-fought final against teammate Mono Suttinon, where exhaustion played a factor. Paul’s refusal to back down when faced with adversity exemplified why he was a deserving MAoW selection.

Ouano is a third-year student in the Information Systems Security program from Calgary, AB.

GAME ON: A GLIMPSE AHEAD

The SAIT Trojans are set to compete at the CCAA Badminton Championships on March 3 at the University of New Brunswick Saint John. After finishing 2nd overall in the ACAC rankings, the team is excited to test themselves on the national stage and keep their momentum going.
