Mia McGregor Red Deer Queens, Women's Hockey

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Mia McGregor, a talented second-year forward from Waskada, Manitoba, played a pivotal role in helping the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Hockey team take a two-game lead in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Women’s Hockey Championship. She accumulated four points in two games and was named the Queens Player-of-the-Game in both contests.
 
In Friday’s 2-1 victory, McGregor scored the opening goal at 1:40 of the second period. She also assisted on teammate Camryn Ward’s marker in overtime. 
 
On Saturday, McGregor, a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences student, assisted on Ward’s power play goal at 6:46 of the opening frame. Then she scored in overtime to lift the RDP Queens to a 2-1 victory and 2-0 lead in the series. 
 
McGregor and the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens will play the Lakeland College Rustlers on Friday, March 13 at 7:15 pm on the road in game three of the best-of-five championship.
