Taytum Busch, Concordia Thunder, Women's Futsal
ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
After a strong regular season, Taytum Busch continued her impressive play between the sticks for the Concordia Thunder at ACAC Futsal Championships.
The third year keeper started the weekend with a strong 13 save performance, earning herself a clean sheet in a 6-0 win over the Lakeland Rustlers, where she also received Player of the Game recognition. She followed that up with an impressive semi-final performance against tournament hosts Medicine Hat. Busch stopped 19 out of the 20 shots she faced from the Rattlers, including a late free kick to secure her team’s spot in the gold medal game against the NAIT Ooks. From there, Busch stopped all 17 shots she faced to pick up her second clean sheet of the weekend, and helped CUE knock off the Ooks 1-0 to win gold in the Concordia Thunder’s inaugural futsal season.
Taytum was named to the ACAC Northwest Division All-Conference team, and because of her consistently excellent displays at Futsal Championships, was named a tournament All-Star.
Taytum Busch is from Edmonton, AB and is currently in her third year at Concordia University of Edmonton, working towards a Bachelor of Arts degree.
