Medicine Hat, October 27, 2016 – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference is pleased to announce that Kevin Wagner, head coach of the Lakeland College Rustlers, has been selected by his ACAC coaching peers as the 2016 South Coach of the Year. This award was presented to Kevin at the ACAC Men's Soccer Championships October 26 in Medicine Hat.
Wagner entered his seventh season as the head coach of the Men's Soccer program this fall and has built a strong soccer culture at Lakeland College and in the surrounding communities.
"Coach Wagner continually motivates Lakeland student-athletes to succeed academically, athletically and as members of the Lakeland community," says Alan Rogan, Lakeland's athletic director. "He truly inspires our student-athletes to strive for excellence in all that they do."
Wagner has invested a significant amount of time to build a team environment with the student-athletes on and off of the pitch. His efforts are evident as the team has continued to improve throughout the season. The men's team finished second in the south division and has been ranked in the top ten nationally for the majority of the season.
