Stefan Cukovic Honoured as 2016 -17 ACAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Year

Medicine Hat, October 27, 2016 –The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference is pleased to announce that Stefan Cukovic of the Lakeland College Rustlers has been selected as the 2016-17 ACAC Men's Soccer Player of the Year. Cukovic was selected for this award based upon his performance throughout the ACAC regular season. Cukovic will now represent the ACAC in the CCAA Player of the of the Year selection process.

Stefan Cukovic, a student in the bachelor of commerce degree program, scored nine goals and added four assists over the 10 game regular season while playing a significant portion of his time in the midfield. Cukovic's performance was one of the key reasons for the Rustlers 7- 1- 2 record and a second place finish in the ACAC South division. Cukovic is not only a strong competitor on the field but is also one of the top performers in the classroom. He also volunteers in the community, helping coach youth soccer programs and camps.   

"Stefan has grown significantly during his time at Lakeland and has truly become a strong leader while competing for Lakeland," says Kevin Wagner, head coach of the Rustlers soccer team.  "He embodies what a student-athlete should be."

"Stefan is an exciting player to watch play and he contributes defensively and offensively for the Rustlers. It is fantastic to see Stefan get acknowledged for his efforts as a student-athlete," says Alan Rogan, director of Rustlers Athletics.
