Emily Spencer Honoured as the 2016-17 ACAC Cross Country Female Rookie of the Year
Edmonton, November 2nd, 2016 – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference is pleased to announce that Emily Spencer of the Lethbridge College Kodiaks Women's cross country team, has been selected as the 2016-17 ACAC female cross country rookie runner of the Year.
The 1st year Kodiaks student athlete is enrolled in the College Nursing program. As an incoming rookie runner for the Kodiaks, Emily made an immediate impact with the program. She improved with every grand prix event that she competed in during the season which lead to her first ACAC individual medal as well as helping the Kodiaks women's team take home the Silver medal and Supremacy trophy from this year's ACAC championships in Grande Prairie.
Coach Bertil Johansson says about Emily's impact on the program, "Coming from humble beginnings running road races to instantly climbing up the ACAC cross country ladder with a fierce determination has been fun to be a part of. She has truly earned this recognition!"
"To watch a first year runner come in and make an impact like Emily has is truly something special to watch. The program is in good hands for a few years to come with student athletes the caliber of Emily in the program!," says Todd Caughlin. Manager of Kodiaks Athletics.
