Brittney Savard Honoured as 2016-17 ACAC Women's Hockey Rookie of the Year

Edmonton,  March 4 , 2017 – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce that Brittany Savard of the NAIT Ooks Women's Hockey team, has been selected as the 2016-17 ACAC Women's Hockey Rookie of the Year. 

Brittany's play this season helped lead the NAIT Ooks hockey team to a 1st place regular season finish in the ACAC.  Savard, a 1st year Personal Fitness Trainer student from Port Alberni, BC, had a 4.0 GPA during the fall term. She scored the most goals in the league by a rookie with 13, which was second overall behind teammate Carlin Boey who had 15. Brittany was also tied for 7th overall in points with 16, putting her 2nd in rookie points in the ACAC.

NAIT Ooks women's hockey head coach Deanna Martin had the following to say about her student-athlete.  "Savard is without a doubt deserving of this recognition.  I see a bright future ahead for her with the Ooks. She is the top ranked fitness and practice player on our team and is working hard towards developing her leadership skills for a future leadership role with our program".
