Brant Lauweryssen Honoured as 2017-18 ACAC Men’s Cross Country Running Rookie of the Year

Red Deer, AB (Nov. 1, 2017) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Brant Lauweryssen of the SAIT Trojans has been selected as the 2017-18 ACAC Men's Cross-Country Running Rookie of the Year.

Lauweryssen helped the Trojans to their second consecutive ACAC Men's Cross-Country Running Championship this past weekend in Red Deer with his sixth place performance in the 8km race. By finishing in the Top 7, he was automatically named an ACAC All-Conference selection.

"Brant started off the year not completely convinced he would want to do cross-country, and we are certainly glad he decided otherwise," said Trojans co-head coach, Bre MacEachern. "He has increased his volume immensely, coming from his usual short distances of track, and has proven he has what it takes to compete with the top guys in the ACAC."

Lauweryssen is a first-year Business Administration student from Calgary, Alta.
