2022-23 ACAC Men's Cross-Country Runner of the Year
Edmonton, AB (November 2, 2022) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Leonard Chesoo of the Concordia Thunder has been selected as the 2022-23 ACAC Men’s Cross-Country Runner of the Year.
This is the third straight year that Leonard Chesoo has won Men’s Runner of the Year. Chesoo, the back-back ACAC gold medalist and CCAA national champion, successfully defended his gold medal over the weekend at the 2022 ACAC Cross-Country championships to three-peat as ACAC champion and win his fourth straight medal. With a few weeks to rest now, Chesoo will be on his way to his fourth straight CCAA National Championship later this month as he looks to three-peat as national champion and win his fourth straight medal. Chesoo has also been named to the ACAC All-Conference team four times and the CCAA All-Canadian team three times with an opportunity for fourth upcoming.
“Leonard continues to cement his legacy at the conference and national level. Winning three straight conference gold medals and runner of the year awards is a historical accomplishment” commented Nate MacLellan, Concordia’s Director of Athletics & Recreation. “On top of that, qualifying for nationals in four straight years is an astonishing success. Leonard’s dominant performances make him extremely worthy of this prominent award. Chesoo is in his 4th year of a Bachelor of Science degree at Concordia University of Edmonton, and calls Iten, Kenya home.
This prestigious award was recognized at the 2022 ACAC Cross-Country Running Championship hosted by Concordia University of Edmonton in Edmonton, Alberta.
