Edmonton, AB (November 2, 2022) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Moktar Said of the SAIT Trojans has been selected as the 2022-23 ACAC Men’s Cross-Country Running Rookie of the Year.
Said put together an impressive first season on the trails for SAIT, winning one Grand Prix race and finishing no worse than second in any other event he competed in – including the ACAC Cross-Country Running Championships where he earned the silver medal and helped his men’s squad to their second straight team title. Said was also named to the ACAC’s Men’s Cross-Country Running All-Conference Team.
“Coach Ryan Edgar spoke highly of Moktar coming into the season, but what he was able to accomplish this year has been nothing short of impressive,” said Wade Kolmel, SAIT Director of Athletics and Recreation. “He led a very strong men’s team to a gold medal at the Conference Championships and we have high hopes for success at the national level as well.”
