2026 ACAC Indoor Track Rookies of the Year

Edmonton, AB (March 18, 2026) –

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK ROOKIE OF THE YEAR, REYNA WOODRUFF: 

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Reyna Woodruff of the Medicine Hat College Rattlers has been selected as the 2026 ACAC Female Indoor Track Rookie of the Year.

Reyna joined the Rattlers back in the Fall, when first started running for the Cross Country Running team. A success from the beginning, Reyna helped the team to qualify for CCAA Cross Country Nationals and in her first year, she was the second best Rattler female runner during the national competition.

Moving to Indoor Track was not different, Reyna showed she could perform in different events. With great performances in every Indoor Track Meeting Room, Reyna was names twice Athlete of the Week for the Rattlers Athletics.

Coach Bill Corcoran shared that “Reyna has done nothing but improve this season. In indoor track, she finished ahead of a lot of runners who beat her in x-country. Her versatility was amazing, scoring points in the 3000m, 1500m and both sprint relays.”

Hailing from Cypress Country, Alberta, Reyna Woodruff is in her first year of General Studies.


MEN'S INDOOR TRACK ROOKIE OF THE YEAR, MALACHI MUIR

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Malachi Muir of the NAIT Ooks has been selected as the 2026 ACAC Men’s Indoor Track Rookie of the Year.

Muir delivered a remarkable debut season for the Ooks, establishing himself as one of the top sprinters in the conference. The first-year athlete set new ACAC records in the 50m, 60m, and 300m events, showcasing his elite speed and consistency across multiple distances. His standout performances continued at the ACAC Indoor Track Championships, where he captured gold medals in both the 50m and 300m events.

In addition to his record-breaking season, Muir was named to the ACAC All-Conference Team, further recognizing his impact in his first year of competition. His ability to perform at a high level throughout the season played a key role in the success of the NAIT Ooks indoor track program.

“Malachi was a quiet star,” said head coach Ron Barnhart. “Despite all this success, he remained humble and down to earth. He was easy to coach and was supportive of all his teammates. His quiet confidence and determination were an inspiration to everyone on the team.”

Muir is a first-year student from Edmonton, Alberta, and is currently enrolled in the Civil Engineering Technology program at NAIT. His record-setting performances and strong work ethic have quickly established him as one of the conference’s top athletes and a rising star for the Ooks.

This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2026 ACAC Indoor Track Championship hosted in Edmonton, Alberta.
