2025-2026 ACAC Men's Overall Athlete of The Year

ACAC MEN'S OVERALL ATHLETE OF THE YEAR, COLBY NEMETH: 

Colby Nemeth, of the Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Kings Volleyball team, has received special recognition for his impact within his team, sport and league. Nemeth, a fifth-year power hitter, has been named the 2025-26 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men’s Player of the Year from all 10 sports within the league. He also received this award last year.

This season, Red Deer’s Nemeth played a key role in helping the Kings earn a 16-3 record during the regular season, ranking first in the ACAC Men’s Volleyball South Division.

“Colby embodies what it means to be a competitor, a leader and a Red Deer Polytechnic King,” says Randy Stewart, Manager, Athletics and Student Life. “His performance shows why he is one of the most dominant student-athletes in the ACAC, and we are extremely proud of his accomplishments.”

In 19 matches, Nemeth, a Bachelor of Commerce student, led ACAC Men’s Volleyball with an average of 4.23 kills per set. He also placed second in the league with a total of 241 kills. Nemeth averaged 0.47 service aces, ranking him third in ACAC Men’s Volleyball. He was named the ACAC Men’s Volleyball South Player of the Year and a member of the South All-Conference team.

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Volleyball program earned its 22nd gold medal at the 2026 ACAC Championship. In 10 sets, Nemeth contributed 58 kills (5.8 kills per set) and was selected as the ACAC Men’s Volleyball Championship MVP.

The RDP Kings dominated at the 2026 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Volleyball National Championship, sweeping each opponent en route to their 15th national gold medal. Over nine sets, Nemeth had 46 kills (5.1 kills per set). He was a recognized as a CCAA Men’s Volleyball All-Canadian and Championship All-Star.

At the Red Deer Polytechnic Athletic Awards held April 1, Nemeth was also named the Red Deer Bottling Outstanding RDP Male Athlete of the Year.
