Spring Sessions in the Country: ACAC Gathers in Vermillion
(May 11, 2026) – ACAC Spring General Meetings and 2026 AGM Recap – May 5–7, 2026 | Lakeland College, Vermillion AB
The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) gathered in Vermillion at Lakeland College from May 5-7 for the 2026 Spring General Meetings and AGM. Representatives from across the conference came together to review key reports, discuss current challenges, and shape the future of post-secondary sport in Alberta.
The meetings featured comprehensive updates from the Executive Committee, ACAC staff, and SPAR, as well as detailed reviews of 2025–26 ACAC Championship reports. Each standing committee presented their semester’s work, showcasing ongoing progress and collaboration.
The conference officially welcomed St. Mary’s University into Badminton starting Fall of 2026—congratulations and welcome to ACAC Badminton!
Roundtable discussions addressed pressing institutional topics, including budget constraints, staffing changes, and the evolving impact of international student restrictions.
Rivur/AO2 provided an overview of their second year as the ACACTV streaming service partner, which was approved for extension. However, going forward ACACTV will be strictly under Rivur as AO2 has decided to split with Rivur.
ACAC Championship hosts for 2026–2027 were confirmed, CCAA Championship host updates were presented, and 2027–2028 CCAA Championship hosts were selected (stay tuned for CCAA announcements):

The ACAC Executive Committee brought in exciting changes with the introduction of Student Experience/ Member at large positions which will be under the supervision of Jordan Richey (NAIT Ooks). Bitter sweet changes were made in the executive as we said goodbye to our longstanding president Jim Knight, duties of president will now be under Terry Ballard (Medicine Hat Rattlers). The executive welcomed Lauren Kucera, and James Phillips who will be taking over Marketing and Communications and Innovation and Leadership Committees respectively, the updated executive positions are as follows;

Alan Rogan, Lakeland College Athletic Director, hosted a hospitality night where members had the opportunity to connect. During the event, ACAC Al Bohonus Recognition Awards were presented, celebrating outstanding service within the conference for those leaving leadership roles. Congratulations to Nathan Ruff for receiving the award for his service as Cross Country Convenor, to Gregg Meropoulis for his contributions as a long standing Curling Convenor and finally Jim Knight for his outstanding work as ACAC president for six years. Jim Knight received another round of applause after being named ACAC Athletic Director of the Year, recognizing his exceptional leadership and commitment to collegiate athletics. Lastly, the ACAC recognized Alan Rogan as he prepares to set sail into retirement following the upcoming season. Rogan was celebrated for his years of leadership, dedication, and contributions to collegiate athletics at Lakeland College and across the ACAC.
