ACAC Badminton Tournament #3 Recap

Edmonton, AB - (January 25, 2026) The third ACAC Badminton tournament of the 2025-26 season was hosted by Concordia University of Edmonton at the Ralph King Athletics Centre. Despite the cold temperatures outside, the day featured red-hot competition, exciting rallies, and action on every court.  

 

Men's Singles

In Men's Singles, Mahdi Ahmadi (TKU) captured his third consecutive tournament title, defeating Mono Suttinon (SAIT) in a thrilling three-game match, 21-16, 16-21, 22-20. Matthew Wong (NAIT) claimed bronze on the day, defeating fellow teammate Om Patel.

Women's Singles

In Women's Singles, TKU continued their excellent form as Melissa Roque defeated Nana Amnutkkittikul (SAIT) in a tight three-game battle, 18-21, 21-17, 22-20. Jenna Wong (NAIT) captured bronze, defeating Emma Grabowski (SAIT), 21-10, 21-7.

Men's Doubles

Men's Doubles ended in dramatic fashion, as Raphael Motel & Jonathan Su (CUE) captured gold on their home turf, downing Ethan Lee & Matthew Wong (NAIT), 21-19, 21-19. Paul Ouano & Mono Suttinon (SAIT) took the bronze as they defeated Vivek Kodi & Vincent Nguyen (TKU), 21-17, 21-10.

Women's Doubles

In Women's Doubles, SAIT's Emma Grabowski & Archelle Ouano came back from one game down to earn gold, defeating Rachel Chan & Mataia Wong (NAIT), 18-21, 21-8, 21-12. In the battle for third, it was Ella Dolan & Jenna Wong (NAIT) who came out on top over Prabhleen Kaur & Emma Tran (CUE), 21-12, 21-15.

Mixed Doubles

In Mixed Doubles action, Mahdi Ahmadi & Melissa Roque secured TKU's third title of the tournament overall, narrowly edging out Paul Ouano & Nana Amnutkkittikul (SAIT), 18-21, 21-9, 21-15. Davis Wong & Mataia Wong (NAIT) finished third, defeating fellow Ooks Ethan Lee & Ella Dolan, 21-10, 17-21, 21-16.

Overall Recap

ACAC Badminton Tournament #3 was filled with exciting back and forth action, with TKU taking titles in Singles and Mixed doubles, CUE and SAIT showcasing strong doubles play, and NAIT with an impressive showing in every competition, always forcing opposing teams to give nothing less than their best. All teams will now be looking towards the ACAC Badminton Championships on February 21st – 22nd hosted by The King's University.
