Curling Championship Day 2 Recap

Vermilion, AB - March 11, 2023 - Day two saw the completion of the round-robin play, and the teams moved into the page playoff system.

With the men, the final game of the round robin saw Augustana and Concordia win their final games but with Augustana winning the head to head they finished first after the round robin.  Concordia played Augustana in the 1 – 2 game with Concordia winning the game and earning a direct path to Sunday's gold medal game.  SAIT and NAIT battled in the 3 – 4 game with NAIT coming out the victor and booking a meeting with Augustana Sunday morning.

After the round-robin, Concordia finished on top with a perfect 3 and 0 record and played Augustana in the 1 – 2 game.    The Thunder continued their winning ways and punched their ticket to the ACAC gold medal game on Sunday.  SAIT and Red Deer battled in the 3 – 4 game with the Trojans coming out on top, which set up a meeting with the Vikings Sunday morning.  The Queens would play for bronze on Sunday

In the mixed Division, the Lakeland Rustlers finished with a perfect 3 and 0 record and took on the NAIT Ooks in the 1 -2 game.  It was a back-and-forth game but the Ooks came out on top and earned the easy path to the gold medal game.  Red Deer and Portage battled to find out who would play for bronze.  Red Deer won the game and in the last draw of the day took on the Rustlers to see who would earn the right to take on the NAIT Ooks Sunday afternoon.  In a close affair, the Rustlers won against Red Deer.

The evening finished with the Curling banquet, guest speaker Lindsay Bertsch giving an inspiring message, and the All-Conference and Coach of the Year awards being handed out.
