Turcotte Leads The Way At ACAC Golf Championship Round #1
RED DEER, AB – Finally, Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Golf was back in action Sunday morning, and what a beautiful day it was at Alberta Springs Golf Resort in Red Der, AB for the ACAC Golf Championship Round #1. The 2021-22 ACAC Golf season will look a bit different this year as all three rounds will be held at Alberta Springs Golf Resort and will consist of an aggregate scoring format throughout all three rounds to make for an exciting finish.
The two-time Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian, Kennedy Turcotte, picked things up right where she left off in 2019 and sits in first place after shooting an impressive 75 (+3) on the day. Behind her was Dryden Gris (+23) of Medicine Hat College and Delaney Ross (+35) of Portage College. In the women's team standings the Rattlers lead the way with a score of +65 followed by the Voyagers (+83), and Trojans (+100).
On the men's side it was a battle for the lead as Jake Magee of SAIT and Colby Friedrich of Medicine Hat College (MHC) posted an impressive even par 72 score to share the lead heading into Round #2. Right behind them were teammates Davide Kaiser (SAIT) and Jayden Dudas (MHC) who posted a score of 74(+2). In the team standings, the Trojans hold the lead after shooting a combined +9 followed closely by the Rattlers who shot +10.
After Round #1, the Rattlers hold the top spot in the mixed team standings by shooting a combined 241 followed by the Trojans (253), and Thunder (262), who will have some ground to make up over the next two rounds.
