A weekend sweep

Ambrose Lions entered the Snake Pit hoping to avoid the weekend sweep. The Medicine Hat Rattlers hoped to build on the solid win the night before in Calgary. The Lions came out with a fast start scoring 7 unanswered to start. Medicine Hat looked upset with this as the pace quickened and the Rattlers offence looked more effective. A back and forth tight game, saw the physicality increase quickly. Hard fouls both ways saw both teams playing with an edge. One unsportsmanlike foul early in the second quarter settled things down briefly as the refs tried to take control of the game. Guard Aaron Cameron took control with some well executed passes along with some great inside play from Osato Obaseki saw the rattlers take a narrow lead into the half 35-33.

The second half started and the physical play ramped back up. Watching the play off the ball, there was shoving and jostling for position the whole game. A few hard shooting fouls and both teams were again on edge. Lions guard Marcus Harris took a technical foul late in the 3rd quarter putting him at four. The third quarter ended with a 54-46 lead for the Rattlers.

In the Fourth Quarter, some questionable calls both ways had the coaching staff of both teams riled up. Both Head coaches obviously frustrated looked on helpless as calls were made. The Rattlers seemed to be in more control using all the time on the shot clock as they looked to slow the pace. Guard Josh Magpantay made back to back 3 pointers to extend the lead to over 10. With this Margin, Ambrose looked to push the pace and score quickly each trip down the floor. Jon Sappleton Rattlers Guard was solid in the defensive zone coming up with a few key rebounds and controlling the offence. In the end the Rattlers were too much for the Lions and they Completed the weekend sweep with a 77-65 win.
