Huskies Host King's Eagles in Home Opener

Nearly 300 fans in attendance at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre cheered wildly when Keyano Huskies' guard D'Aubre Doucette hit a jumper with 2:02 in regulation against the visiting The Kings University Eagles.

As part of a new promotion for the 2018-2019 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference season, Huskies Athletics announced that they will give to attending fans, a coupon for free Papa John's Garlic Knots anytime when either the men's or women's Huskies top the century mark at home.

The fans went away happy as did the Huskies, as they won their opening game 103-67.

Huskies held a 18-0 lead until 1:53 remaining in the first quarter when Eagles' Nigel Rolle broke mesh with a two-pointer to get the Edmonton team on the scoreboard.

Huskies led 45-20 at halftime.

In a third quarter plagued with fouls and sloppy play, the Huskies could not regain their tempo with the Eagles managing 23 points to their 27.

Huskies would go on to claim a 103-67 victory.

Huskies Player of the Game was Emmanuel Ansah with 14 points and six boards. Stefan Jovic added 16 points and 10 rebounds. Huskies had 44 points off the bench with Nickolas McDonald and Dante Dinter dropping 13 and 12 points respectively. Huskies shot 13-38 from beyond the three-point arc. Huskies also coughed up an impressive 17 steals.

Eagles Player of the Game was big man Jacob Wojcicki, who in 18 minutes, managed 10 points and seven rebounds. Nigel Rolle led the Eagles with 14 points.
