Vikings take on Thunder in Home Opener

Camrose, AB - The Augustana Vikings men's basketball team came just short of a home opener victory with the visiting Concordia Thunder winning 82-76.

The Vikings were up 19-13 after a strong first quarter. The visiting Thunder was able to sink a few more shots in the second, tying things up after the second period at 37-37.

Heading into the last quarter the Augustana Vikings managed to get a slight lead back and were up by two points with a score of 57-55. Concordia Thunder edged ahead within the last 5 minutes of play and unfortunately the Vikings were not able to come back, running out of time despite strong support from their home crowd.

The Player of the Game Award went to Spencer Marion who scored 20 points for the Vikings as well as grabbing several rebounds on both ends of the court. On the Concordia side Lucas Turchet was awarded Player of the Game scoring 15 points and picking up several rebounds and steals.
