SAIT Trojans 2nd Half Scoring defeats St. Mary's University Lightning

St. Mary's Men's Basketball team put a little scare into the SAIT Trojans in the first half. Both teams playing their 3rd games of the season and looking tight on both sides.

1st Quarter St. Mary's 26 SAIT 26

Looked like equal footing throughout. St. Mary's had a balanced scoring attack with Cordell Minnifee (6 points) Joshua Matosevic (5 points) Amsing and Britton (4 points). SAIT had scoring from Ian Tevis (11 points) , Charlie Conner (7 points) and Magai Magai (8 points) SAIT shot 36% FG and St. Mary's had 55% from the floor. Entertaining for the crowd.

2nd Quarter SAIT 25 St. Mary's 24. Continued to be a battle from both the Trojans and Lightning. It looked to be a good battle for the crosstown rivals. Off the bench, Kamal Pennant scored his 6 points (2-three pointers) to keep the Trojans on their toes. Minnifee poured in another 5 helpers. SAIT contiuned their scoring from Tevis with 10 points. Nicholas Molina had his five points in his body of work.

3rd Quarter SAIT 30 St. Mary's 11.

Well the sleeping giant came to life.... They started off strong and had a lead by 12 points early... St. Mary's had defensive lapse give up and SAIT lead to 19 conclude the 3rd quarter. SAIT had their second star John Smith contribute 8 points and Molina put in another 5. St. Mary's had done a great job defensively in holding Tevis to 2 points. St. Mary's quarter had Minniffee score 4 points to lead the Lightning squad.

4th Quarter St. Mary's 20 SAIT 18... Valiant effort but fell short.. Strength of  duo Smith (7 points) and Tevis (6 points) was too much to overcome. St. Mary's Britton (6 points) and Minnifee (4 points) were their strongest players of the 4th
